Lumia 950 XL: Microsoft confirmed late last year that no new features would be developed for Windows 10 Mobile, leaving the platform in maintenance mode until it reaches end of support in July 2019.
Naturally, without support from the parent company, the mobile operating system has no chance of survival. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean you should forget about your Lumia device.
Developer @imbushuo recently showed off a working version of Windows 10 (ARM) installed on the Lumia 950 XL, which after so many months of testing and hunting finally seems to be running smoothly on the device.
There are still things that need to be improved, such as modem connectivity, but this does not mean that it creates a serious error in the operation of the system.
The most important point of the case is the user's impressions of this project. Without a doubt, installing Windows 10 on a Lumia 950 XL cannot make the device that easy to use, although it will be interesting to see how this project develops with the help of more developers.
Although Microsoft has abandoned Windows phones, experts are talking about a new device that will be released in 2018. Codenamed Andromeda, this device could have many features and capabilities that we usually find in a mobile phone, but it certainly won't be a smartphone per se.
@imbushuo's project only works on Lumia 950 XL but it's only a matter of time before other developers try to install Windows 10 on other models.
