iOS 13 comes with a revamped UI, inspired by iPads

iOS 13: Until now, Apple has been reluctant to make any changes to the iOS home screen on iPhones. Now, it has decided to change tack and is working on a major overhaul of iOS that will include, among other things, a revamped UI.

The redesign will be introduced with iOS 13, so we're talking about a full year of waiting from now. The wait will be worth it as in addition to UI improvements, Apple is also working on a new set of features including a Files app and Apple Pencil support.

Many of the new features we'll see on iPhones with the release of iOS 13 are borrowed from the iPad.iOS 13

"iOS 13 comes with a big feature upgrade inspired by the iPad," Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reports.

In the meantime, before we get to the iOS 13 release, iOS 12 is taking precedence, which will be a more gentle upgrade. Apple will focus on reliability and security, so while we might get some new features, don't expect anything groundbreaking this year.

Apple will reportedly unveil the next version of iOS at WWDC early next month, with the public release scheduled for September. In the meantime, developer and public betas will have already been released, with the first build available shortly after WWDC in June.
