Microsoft recently released a new build of Windows 10 Redstone 4 for users enrolled in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider program, as everyone waits for the company to finally announce the official name of the next update.
Windows 10 build 17110 offers improvements primarily for enterprise customers, although there are also general fixes and improvements for everyone else. However, the biggest changes are for businesses, as they are now allowed to perform custom actions during updates.
Microsoft says that with this new feature, customers will be able to run their own custom actions and scripts during installation, either before the installation starts or before the system restarts in an offline phase.
"The installer also carries over scripts for future updates. In the event of an update or rollback failure, a failure.cmd script can be used to perform custom operations or undo previous custom scripts," Microsoft explains.
Additionally, with this build, Microsoft is making Windows Server Core and Nano Server container images available on Docker Hub for testing and feedback.
Of particular note is a bug that causes the Microsoft Store to not work or appear in Start or the taskbar, with the company investigating the issue. The software giant also says that there are cases where some PCs fail to boot and enter a reboot loop state, and disabling fast boot could be a solution.
Windows 10 Redstone 4 is scheduled to be finalized next month, while systems that are not part of the Windows Insider program will receive it in April as version 1803. The name of the update has not yet been revealed.
