Thomas Holdroyd, 30, says he lost his iPhone 8 overnight, so he used Find my iPhone from his personal computer to locate the device.
Find My iPhone tracked the lost device to a police station in Ilford, UK, which in most cases is good news because recovering it from the police station should be easier than getting the iPhone back from a thief. But in this case, the problem is far from solved.
As Holdroyd explained to the Daily Mail, police are unable to find the lost iPhone inside the police station, despite the app clearly showing that the device is somewhere inside.
“On my first visit, I spoke to the secretary and he looked. He showed me two phone numbers but neither of them were mine. He said there was nothing more he could do and that I should come back on Monday because the office that could serve me was only open on weekdays. The second time I went, the officer was very helpful as he looked everywhere but couldn’t find it,” explains Holdroyd.
The man joked that he's ready to break into the police station to find his iPhone, but in the meantime his only option is to wait until the officer locates the device.
Police promised to call the man when the iPhone is found, while Holdroyd says officers have not yet contacted him.
