Windows Hello: Upgrading to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was a fairly smooth process for the majority of users, but there are still a few reports claiming that there are still bugs.
One of these is found in Windows Hello, and many users are asking Microsoft for help after the upgrade to resolve the problems.
So far, the problem has been detected on several HP Spectre x360 and Surface Pro , but it is not related to the hardware configuration of the devices.
After the upgrade, when opening the Settings app and going to Windows Hello, a message appears stating that "Windows Hello is not available on this device" even though the feature was working properly before installing the Fall Creators Update.
"During startup, the camera doesn't work even though Windows searches for my face. When I manually log in again, it resets and I have to log in again to dismiss the login screen. Windows Hello rarely works. Microsoft has broken Windows Hello and this is annoying," said one user.
There is currently no workaround available and, given the small number of reports, users are advised to contact Microsoft support rather than wait for the company to acknowledge the issue and release a fix.
One possible way to fix this error is to perform a system restore. Downgrading to the previous version of Windows is also another solution, but in this case you will lose all the new features included in the Fall Creators Update.
