HP blames Microsoft for Windows Phone's decline

HP is one of the companies that remained loyal to Windows 10 Mobile at a time when the majority of companies and developers have turned to Android. Now, it has decided to abandon the platform as well.HP

The reason? Very simple. Without Microsoft's support, Windows Phone is a dead platform, and since HP is not an operating system company, it has no reason to invest in new devices that have no future.

Nikos Lazaridis, president of EMEA, explained that although the company was working on new products with Windows 10 Mobile, due to Microsoft's withdrawal, it decided to permanently abandon the platform. He also emphasized that Microsoft, although it has not made it official, has been planning this specific withdrawal for two years.

"Microsoft, like most businesses, decided to change strategy according to the demands of the times. We, in turn, cannot advance our work without Microsoft's support," said Nikos Lazaridis.

Essentially, what we can conclude from Mr. Lazaridis's words is that HP was preparing several new Windows-based products that will never see the light of day because of Microsoft. Some of these were the upgraded version of the Elite X3 and a new lapdock.

In other news, the HP Elite X3 will be available until 2019, but we don't know at this time whether more units will be offered beyond the limited stock currently in stores.
