iPhone X: Samsung will earn $110 with every sale

Apple still relies on Samsung to manufacture the iPhone. The company's latest model, the iPhone X, is no exception. That's why Samsung probably wants the device to have a high percentage of iPhone X sales. iPhone X

Why? an analysis of data reveals that the South Korean company will earn around $110 from each device sold.

In other words, the parts manufactured by Samsung and found inside an iPhone X are worth no less than $110, so Samsung has every reason to want good sales for Apple's new flagship.

The analysis of the iPhone X components was conducted by research firm Counterpoint and published by the WSJ. The research reveals that in addition to the highly controversial display installed in the device, the battery and capacitors found in the iPhone X are also manufactured by Samsung.

Counterpoint reports that Samsung could make more money from the iPhone X than from its own Samsung Galaxy S8, but it is apparently only referring to component manufacturing and not the entire company which clearly benefits from its high smartphone sales.

Apple is expected to sell about 130 million iPhone Xs, while Samsung's Galaxy S8 sales are expected to be around 50 million, according to the research. It is estimated that Samsung makes about $202 from the components it makes for each Samsung Galaxy S8, so in the end, the company could make more money making hardware for the iPhone X.

Apple itself is reportedly trying to reduce its dependence on Samsung, and starting in 2019, the company could partner with other companies to manufacture iPhone displays, especially after investing in new production facilities by LG Display.
