It's now official: The iPhones , expected to launch with the iPhone 8, will feature OLED displays that will be jointly manufactured by Samsung and LG.

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities said that LG will be a major supplier of OLED displays for the next year.
The reason for the two giants' collaboration is the significant inventory problems that Apple has faced recently, leading it to believe that the contract with LG is the way to avoid similar issues in the future.
It should be recalled that so far Samsung has been the only manufacturer of OLED screens for the new iPhone 8, which is expected to be released in the fall. Of course, the final release date has not yet been clarified as supply shortage problems have been bothering Apple for a very long time.
Ming-Chi Kuo explains that Apple has the right to work with a wider range of suppliers, such as LG, who can contribute to better and faster manufacturing of new devices.
Samsung, as the sole supplier of OLED displays for the iPhone 8, was responsible for both front-end and back-end manufacturing. LG could introduce a similar production model. However, we must take into account that LG is specialized in the front-end process, so if Apple also cooperates with a company specialized in back-end production, the rate of screen manufacturing and their quality will be greatly improved.
LG, according to sources, has already received funding from Apple to begin producing displays in early 2018. In addition, LG is also collaborating with other manufacturing companies such as GIS for improved lamination, and Foxconn for more accurate manufacturing.
