McAfee recently announced that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones will come with McAfee antivirus software pre-installed. However, the latest smartphones aren't the only ones getting the security solution, as several other Samsung devices will come with McAfee software pre-loaded.
Following a partnership with Samsung, McAfee will pre-install its security solution on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones, making it available for free for 60 days, after which users will receive special offers if they wish to continue using the product.
The McAfee software solution is available for Galaxy S8 units globally, while Samsung Smart TV units will be pre-loaded with McAfee Security for TV only in South Korea and the U.S. Availability will expand to other markets this year.
Additionally, McAfee VirusScan for smartphones is available on many Samsung smartphones, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S7 edge. Additionally, McAfee LiveSafe cross-device security software is also pre-installed on all new Samsung PCs.
“As the connected world of devices continues to expand into consumers’ homes, Samsung users can rest easy knowing their devices are protected with the latest security solutions,” said Henry Lee, VP of Mobile Security Technologies and Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.
Through this partnership, the two companies aim to address consumer needs, as 44% are concerned about their financial information being stolen, while 38% are concerned about identity theft, according to McAfee.
Samsung recently started pre-orders for the unlocked Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones in the US, with the versions set to be available in stores on May 31. Customers who pre-order by May 24 will receive their unlocked flagships starting May 30. Additionally, Samsung is offering an entertainment kit and a free 6-month Netflix subscription for pre-orders.
