Facebook attributes its downfall to technical problems , thus downplaying claims and rumors that the hacker group Lizard Squad was behind the incident this morning.
It is recalled that earlier Facebook and Instagram had been offline for approximately 40 minutes, while Tinder was also affected.
As reported in a BBC report, a spokesperson for the social network said that the problem is believed to be due to a technical issue: "This was not the result of a 'third party' attack, but occurred after we introduced a change that affected our settings systems. We moved quickly to fix the problem, and the services are working at 100% for everyone.".
Reports had attributed responsibility to the hacker group Lizard Squad, based on tweets from the hacker group's account, which had also been blamed for attacks on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live in the past.
