Facebook users should be on the lookout for a scam circulating on the social network that tries to convince them to "Like" a page. Unfortunately, this particular scam is causing intense family emotional outbursts.
The message circulating on Facebook features an image of a baby in the hospital and asks for “Likes” in exchange for prayers for the child’s well-being. One “Like” equals one prayer, while sharing equals 100.
The scam simply tries to garner as many “Likes” and “Shares” for a Facebook page as possible , hoping that people will promote it even more.
This may seem mostly harmless, but the image used in the scam was stolen from a personal Facebook profile and used without permission. The ugly part of this whole thing is that while the page is becoming widely known, the parents are constantly in turmoil since the baby actually died two weeks after birth.
This isn't the first time a scam has used a baby's image, and it certainly won't be the last. While some claim that money should be donated, most believe that prayers are the way to go.
This time, however, the problem is the fact that the stolen photo of the baby is being used without permission, especially considering the delicate case.
