Alienware 's new desktop computer , the Aurora R16, is here. The Aurora computer features new features and design from its predecessor, the R15, and will be ideal for gaming .

The new Aurora R16 has the same steel chassis inside as the previous model. But its new design removes several pounds of plastic to make the computer 40% smaller in volume — shrinking from 60.7 liters to 36 liters overall.
Alienware told reporters that the purpose of reducing plastic was to reduce airflow.
The result is “up to” 10% lower CPU, 6% lower GPU temperatures, and a 20% quieter system. It’s the quietest Aurora the company has ever built, says Eddy Goyanes.
The computer now draws its air through the “Stadium Loop” (large looped air vents on both sides of the front of the unit, with a single fan.) The window side of the loop is covered in 44 discrete LEDs .The fan on the back of the unit and the alienhead logo on the front also have RGB LEDs. There’s also an optional 240mm liquid cooling radiator with two 120mm fans on top.

The side of the unit is also covered by air vents, the front of which is designed to bring in air, while the back exhausts it (depending on your GPU).
The new Aurora R16 comes standard with Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E , a 500W 80+ Platinum power supply with 12-phase voltage regulation, two memory slots and two M.2 SSD slots for up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and up to 8TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage .
You can also install a spinning hard drive up to 3.5mm. There is also an optional 1000W 80+ Platinum power supply, depending on what CPU and GPU you have.
The 33.8-pound chassis, which is the maximum weight, also has a handful of ports: on the front there's a USB-C port running at 10 Gbps, three 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The back offers a USB-C 20 Gbps port, a USB-C 10 Gbps port, two USB-A 5 Gbps ports, and a pair of USB 2.0 ports, as well as 2.5 Gbps ethernet and a series of audio outputs.

It's available today starting at $1,750 in the United States (or $2,300 CAD in Canada) with an air-cooled Core i7 13700F and Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics.
Asia and Europe can start with an RTX 3050 or upgrade to an RTX 4080, but in the United States the only other GPU option is the RTX 4070. The 13th-gen i9 13900F is also available, and the company claims that the R16 will become the most powerful desktop by the end of the year.
What the new model lacks is upgradeability: the power supply and Z690 motherboard are still proprietary. Alienware boss Matt McGowan claims it's just a matter of time: "It was more efficient for us to build the product this way than to completely redesign it.".

McGowan told reporters that the team repeated the same process in the build as on the previous-generation Alienware R15 to focus on space savings, complexity and airflow, before considering the possibility of upgrading for future models.
The company also wouldn't comment on whether it will offer an AMD version of R16. "We're looking into it for the future, but we won't be providing any information at this time.".
