Gaming laptops are no longer the "bricks" they were a few years ago, with new thinner and lighter models from Asus and Gigabyte, all of which now weigh less than 2kg. But Dell has been lagging behind in the gaming laptop space, as its flagship gaming laptop (the Alienware series) continues to have a heavy and bulky design and huge bezels around the screen.
Now all that changes with the all-new Alienware m15, Alienware's first truly thin and light gaming laptop. It's 14% thinner than the Alienware 13, while the screen size has increased from 13 inches to 15 inches, and the weight has been reduced by 20%.
Of course, Dell has equipped the laptop with very strong features as one would expect from a modern gaming notebook. For its composition, the possible processors that can be chosen are 2, the quad-core Intel core i5-8300H, or the hexa-core Intel core i7-8750H (where used by most competitors). The basic version starts with a 1080p 60hz display, although there are options for 1080p 144hz, and 4k 60hz panel. The ram supported by the device reaches 16 gb and the use of 2 hard drives at the same time, either ssd or hybrid drive, is supported.
Dell claims that the m15's 60 Whr battery can last for 7.1 hours of video playback, while an optional 90 Whr battery can last for 10.6 hours of video playback. It also says that the notebook will last for 13.4 hours and 17 hours in idle mode, respectively. The price starts at $1,299, and it will be available from October 25.
