Microsoft has announced that its annual fall Surface event will take place next month, on October 12th at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. The website says, “watch live to see what happens next,” which could indicate that this will be the company’s first live hardware event since 2019.

It is currently unclear whether the event will be held in person with the participation of the press or broadcast live from a closed location.
On the agenda, expect to see a new Surface Pro 9 that combines Intel and ARM configurations under one umbrella, and maybe even new colors, like Sapphire (blue) and Forrest (green), in addition to the Graphite and Platinum colors we've had on the Surface Pro here for quite some time.
We're also expecting a new Surface Laptop, although recent rumors have suggested we'll only see an Intel this fall. It's expected to ship with 12th-gen Intel chips, but no other hardware details are known at this time. Given that we might only get an Intel variant, could this fall's laptop update be a Laptop 4+ instead of a Laptop 5?
Finally, what we're expecting to see is a new Surface Studio 3. The Surface Studio has been long overdue for a refresh, with the last one launching in 2018 with an outdated 7th-gen Intel chip. Hopefully, we'll see a newer Intel and NVIDIA GPU inside the Surface Studio 3.

Other smaller devices we might see include a new pair of Surface Earbuds, updated Type Covers with patterns, and Project Volterra.
This fall marks the tenth anniversary of Surface, so we'll be interested to see how Microsoft celebrates.
