Microsoft Surface Pro X: Launches with Eye Contact feature

After first announcing it last year, Microsoft has begun rolling out its long-awaited Eye Contact feature to the Surface Pro X as part of the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview. The AI uses the tablet to see if your eyes are always looking directly at the camera while you're video chatting.

The feature is available with any app that works with the Surface Pro X's front-facing camera, so you can use it with non-Microsoft apps like Zoom and Google Meet. However, you can't take advantage of the feature if the tablet is in portrait orientation.

Because the software is based on Microsoft’s architecture, it’s unclear whether the company will make the feature available to x86-based computers . However, Microsoft isn’t the only company working on this type of functionality. With the betas of iOS 13, Apple began testing a similar FaceTime Attention Correction feature. The company ultimately shut down the feature before the operating system was released to the public. However, as The Verge notes, Attention Correction is one of the features Apple says iOS 14 will include when it comes out later this year.

If you don't have a Surface Pro X, there's another good reason to check out the latest preview build of Windows 10. The update includes a nice tweak to how works . By default, pressing the two keys will let you see all of your browser tabs alongside your open app. If the option to switch between all of tabs at once is daunting, you can tweak the feature to show only your most recent three or five tabs, or none at all.
