Telegram may soon give you the option to link your account to an email address. The email will be used for verification whenever you log in from a new or unrecognized device. This will add a layer of security to your Telegram account.

Telegram has not yet announced this feature as it is still in the development phase. Renowned app developer Alessandro Paluzzi spotted the early, under-development build of the feature a few days ago. Screenshots shared by Paluzzi show that Telegram will allow users to manually enter an email or sign in with their Google account. Telegram says that the email address will help protect your account from unauthorized access.
This option will be located in the Security section of your Privacy and Security Settings. Once you add an email address, Telegram will note that the email “will be used whenever you log in to your Telegram account from a new device.” This likely means you’ll receive some kind of verification code in your email. The messaging app allows you to change your email at any time.
Telegram adds more ways to protect your account
Telegram already offers a few ways to keep your account secure. First, you have device-specific passcode locks that allow you to lock the app with a password. The passcode works locally on a device, so you have to manually set passwords on each device you use Telegram on. You can set the app to automatically lock after one minute, five minutes, one hour, or five hours of inactivity , or you can manually tap the lock icon above the chat list to lock the app immediately.
Telegram also has a two-step verification system. This is a cloud- based system that requires you to enter a preset password every time you log in to your Telegram account from a new device. You can add a password, a password hint (for yourself), and a recovery email in case you forget your password.
As mentioned above, Telegram is currently working on this email login system. There is no timeframe for when this feature might be released to the public. Hopefully, the wait won't be long.
