The Huawei Mate 50 series of smartphones has been announced. The company announced the devices during an event held in China. Four smartphones were announced, three of which belong to the flagship series.
These devices are the Huawei Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. The Huawei Mate 50E was also announced, but that's a mid-range smartphone. We'll talk about each of them below. We'll actually group them together two by two, as the Mate 50 and Mate 50E have a lot in common, and the same goes for the Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Edition.
Huawei Mate 50 & Mate 50E
The Huawei Mate 50 and Mate 50E feature flat displays and a center-mounted camera hole. Design-wise, these two phones are similar, but their internals are not the same.
Both devices have the same display – a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2700 x 1224) OLED display. This panel offers a 90Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. It can display up to 1 billion colors.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G powers the Huawei Mate 50, while the Mate 50E comes with the Snapdragon 778G 4G. They can't support 5G with these chips due to the US ban ,which applies to all Huawei phones released.
Both come in 128GB and 256GB storage options, while the Mate 50 also comes in a 512GB storage variant. This storage is expandable, although Huawei's own memory card will be required for this.
The camera situation is also quite interesting. The main and ultrawide cameras are the same on these two phones, but the Mate 50 also comes with a periscope telephoto module. A 50-megapixel main camera is supported by a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera on both phones. The Mate 50 also includes a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
A 13-megapixel (f/2.4) front camera is included on both phones. They also have the same battery capacity, a 4,460 mAh battery. Huawei's 66W fast wired charging is included on both devices, while the Mate 50 also supports 50W wireless charging.

The price of the Huawei Mate 50 in China starts at $718 (723 euros), while we still don't know the price of the Mate 50E.
Huawei Mate 50 Pro & Mate 50 RS Porsche Edition
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro is the company's top flagship, and the RS Porsche Edition model is basically a luxury variant of it - the only difference is the design on the back. However, the specifications are basically the same. Needless to say, the RS Porsche Edition model is more expensive.
Both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G SoC and feature a 6.74-inch display. This panel is curved and has a fullHD+ resolution (2616 x 1212). A 120Hz refresh rate is supported, as is a 300Hz touch sampling rate. This display can display up to 1 billion colors.
A notch is included on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Edition. This notch is much less intrusive than the one on the iPhone 13 series, at least in terms of performance. However, the bezels are quite thin.
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro comes in 256GB and 512GB storage options, while the RS Porsche Edition only comes with 512GB of storage. However, storage is expandable on both smartphones.

There are some differences in the camera department. The first two cameras are the same, but the third is not. A 50-megapixel main camera is supported by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera on both phones.
The Mate 50 Pro also includes a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The third camera on the Mate RS model is a 48-megapixel super macro telephoto.
Both phones include a 13-megapixel ultrawide selfie camera, in addition to a 3D depth camera. This depth camera is there for advanced facial scanning and is the reason both phones have a notch.
A 4,700mAh battery is found in both phones. Both phones support 50W wireless charging.
The price of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro starts at $977 (€983), while the price of the Mate 50 RS Porsche Design model starts at $1868 (€1880).
