In September, one of the first leaks about the iPhone 14 Pro claimed that the device would be the first model in years to not have a camera bump. More recent leaks, however, contradict this claim, with the latest contradiction coming from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo on Sunday took to Twitter to explain why the iPhone 14 Pro will come with an even larger camera bump than the 13 Pro. This information was revealed last week when leaked design details for the new smartphone showed that the camera bump and the entire device would be thicker.

According to Kuo, the reason for these changes is that Apple is planning significant improvements for the 14 Pro's camera this year. As the analyst has previously reported, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to feature an upgraded 48MP camera sensor, which is larger in size.
Kuo further explains that the main reason for the larger rear camera protrusion on the 14 Pro/Pro Max is the upgrade of the wide camera to 48MP (as opposed to the 12MP camera on the 13 Pro/Pro Max). The diagonal length of the 48MP CIS will increase by 25-35%, and the height of the 48MP 7P lens will increase by 5-10%.

Last September's leak raised expectations for the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max. Rumored changes included a device without a camera bump, a hole-punch design, rounded iPhone 4-style volume buttons, a titanium , and more. Unfortunately, it looks like these changes won't be coming this year.
It's unclear whether Apple scrapped this design for something more modest or if the redesign was just a rumor. Regardless, the new devices are expected to retain very similar designs to the iPhone 13. The biggest change to the device will be a new pill-shaped hole-punch display instead of the notch on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Are you thinking of upgrading your phone this year? If so, would you choose Apple's new smartphone or do you consider it overpriced?
