If you want to use your Windows 11 desktop while you're away from your PC, don't worry. You can access it remotely from your phone or tablet. But first, you'll need to enable Remote Desktop on your Windows 11 PC.

How does it work?
You can use the Remote Desktop feature in Windows 11 to connect and gain access to your computer, using a remote access tool. Then you can perform some simple tasks, such as checking your downloads, installing applications, copying files from your computer.

It is best to use Remote Desktop only on your home network with Network Level Authentication, to be safe. Therefore, you will need to use your Windows user account password to authenticate yourself on the network before you can gain remote access.
Tip: It is not recommended to expose the Remote Desktop service directly to the internet. Microsoft recommends setting up your own VPN if you want to access Remote Desktop away from your local network.
How to enable Remote Desktop on Windows 11?
To start the process, click on the “Start” menu and select “Settings.” Alternatively, press Windows+i on your keyboard to go directly to Settings.
Next, select “System” and then “Remote Desktop”.

Turn on the switch next to “Remote Desktop.”
Select “Yes” in the User Account Control (UAC) message and click the “Confirm” button in the window that opens.
Next, click on the arrow (which opens the menu), located next to the enabled switch of Remote Desktop.

Check the box next to “Require devices to use Network Level Authentication Connect (Recommended)”. After enabling this option, you will need to add the password of the remote computer’s Windows user account for authentication on the local network. Only after successful authentication will you see the Windows login screen.

Select “Yes” on the UAC prompt and select “Confirm” to enable this extra layer of security for using Remote Desktop in Windows 11.

How to use the Remote Desktop App to access the computer
You can try out various free remote access tools to use your computer remotely, but only a few of them have mobile apps. Here's how to access Remote Desktop using Microsoft's Remote Desktop app, which is available on Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone, and iPad.
Open the Remote Desktop app and tap the ( + ) icon , located in the upper right corner.
