Facebook threatens iOS users with payment demand

In recent days, you've likely heard that Apple has forced apps to display a notification asking users if they want the app to track their online activity.

Facebook is one of applications and is certainly unhappy with this development, since it earns money by monitoring users' online activity.

For this reason, it seems that the popular social networking platform is now trying to scare users of both the Facebook for iOS app and Instagram for iOS.

As former White House senior adviser Ashkan Soltani reported , Facebook is showing its own notification that is intended to get iOS users to consent to tracking. The notification is based on the huge enthusiasm of users for more personalized ads. In short, he says that the tracking that is taking place is mainly to help small businesses.

However, it also says something else: “Help keep Facebook free.” The same “threat” is also being presented to Instagram users.

Facebook seems willing to try everything it can to get more iOS users to let the tracking continue. As some might imagine, Facebook is afraid it could lose out on a big profit.

This could of course work in some cases. If Facebook goes ahead with a payment requirement, it will now be a kind of business. Users will become customers and buy the product instead of being the product themselves.

They will be able to expect service, while Facebook should be responsive to their concerns at all times. They could even understand how Facebook's privacy controls actually work and demand even greater simplicity.

Of course, that's unlikely to happen. Mark Zuckerberg has been very good at what he's been doing for years. And it's more than certain that he'll find a convenient way to serve the needs of his platform.
