But those aren’t the only changes the new release has brought to the switcher , as some users have reported that the recent apps screen has been removed entirely in the final build. latest patch October Google.

The bug affected Android 11 users who tried to switch to the app. Specifically, instead of opening the recent apps screen with a swipe up and hold on the launcher, there was just a frustrating bouncing effect. And swiping and holding an app had strange results, such as the app appearing minimized to a blank wallpaper with no other recent apps.

Issues with the recent apps screen seem to be occurring on Pixel devices running Android 11, all the way back to the Pixel 2. Some at Android Police were able to fix it by locking and unlocking the device, but generally, it won't go back to normal until the system is rebooted.

Other users report that the recent apps screen appears, but not before freezing for a few minutes.

The stable version of Android 11 was released last month. From chaotic media controls to a buggy recent apps screen, it wasn't a great release .

Ostensibly, this could be a new initiative from Google's Digital Wellbeing team aimed at getting us to put down our phones, but that can hardly be the case, because the release notes for the October Pixel update show that it has been fixed.
