Samsung Odyssey G9 and G7- Their prices have just been revealed: Samsung has revealed the price of its first "Odyssey Gaming Monitor", with the strong curves and bold design winning impressions.
At CES 2020 , we also learned about some of its features , such as the 240Hz refresh rate , the 1ms response time , the HDR capability of QLED and VA panels . What we didn't know, however, was its price , the crucial piece of information that the company has finally decided to reveal .
This is model Samsung's flagship, the 49-inch Odyssey G9, with a "dual-quad" display 32:9 (5,120x1,440) 1000r curvature and HDR1000 brightness level (1,000 nits). Unlike other products, it uses OLED display technology , which allows for extra brightness and wider viewing angles. It is available in white with black details, and its price (select retailers and Samsung stores) is $1,700.
If it seems “too much” for either its price or its size, you can choose the “ Odyssey G7 ”, which has almost the same features with some minor differences. Its available sizes are 27 and 32 inches , considerably smaller than the G9 . It is also a VA Panel with HDR like the one above, with very good brightness levels at 600 nits , 2,560×1,440 resolution and ratios aspect 16:9 .
Like the Samsung Odyssey G9, it has a subtle blue backlight with a matte black exterior. The G7 is available now on the company's website and select retailers, with prices starting at $700 for the 27-inch monitor and $800 for the 32-inch.
The differences in terms of aesthetics and external design aren't too stark, as they look quite similar from a distance. However, Samsung's 49-inch model comes with a glossy white plastic back , while the G7 has matte black plastic around the edges and small blue triangular slots on the front.
