As reported by user Ice Universe, an image depicting a beautiful sunset contains a bugthat can cause an Android smartphone to freeze when its user uses it as wallpaper.
The image is circulating on social media and despite warnings, many users have set it as wallpaper on devices .
The error contained in the photo is an inappropriate color coding, which Android devices cannot handle.
When set as wallpaper, the image affects the operation of devices, with many users complaining that their smartphone gets stuck on startup or cannot proceed past the bootloader screen. The result, however, is that the device does not work.
The smartphones most affected by the image are Samsung, OnePlus , and Google Pixel. However, Android Emulators affected by the image.
How to get rid of the new bug
If you are one of the users who has already fallen victim to this unusual error and your device is stuck, you can follow the steps below:
- Try booting your smartphone into safe modeby pressing the power and volume up buttons simultaneously.
- If you are using a custom ROM or a rooted Android device that is stuck in a boot loop, reset the wallpaper data to default.
- Factory reset your device from the bootloader, but remember that you will lose all your data if you choose this procedure.
Other similar bugs have been popping up recently. Just last month, a bug affected iOS devices with a text message written in Telugu.
