Once upon a time there was a European regulation called GDPR. Some said it was so powerful that it could save Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother from the teeth of the evil wolf or even sterilize the old women in the villages that indiscriminately ask passers‑by «And whose are you?». Unfortunately, however, people did not fully understand it and thus no one used it. But one day…!

In the interactive workshop «GDPR and the 40 thieves» Kondorevythoulis and Chionati meet Odysseas and Kitsou's mother in order to discuss privacy and the protection of personal data in the digital age.

The workshop is aimed at all ages and combines fairy tales and myths with humor and imagination to present in an understandable and entertaining way issues related to the European General Data Protection Regulation (known as GDPR) and the fundamental rights and freedoms that it ensures for all citizens of the European Union.

The main goal of the workshop is not to teach – at least not in the traditional way – but to serve as food for (creative) thought as well as a beautiful entertaining experience.

Demetrios Grammmenos is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Informatics of the Foundation for Technology and Research (ITE). He has more than 25 years of experience and expertise in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and is also a certified evaluator of the international standard creativity test Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT). He has published scientific articles on leveraging stupidity, ignorance and nonsense as tools for creative thinking and innovation, as well as the unique scientific article worldwide that begins with the words «Once upon a time…». Since 2014, based on his relevant experience and knowledge, he created the activity «Designers of the Future» within which he develops and organizes experiential experiences that introduce the concept and practice of Creativity and Creative Thinking to children, parents, educators, and the general public. To date, he has implemented more than 50 creative thinking workshops in 5 countries, involving a total of over 3,500 people of all ages.

Anthi Strataki is a physicist with postgraduate studies in Total Quality Management (TQM). She has been working as a Specialist Technical Scientist at ITE since 2001, initially as a member of the «Hygeianet» program and responsible for publishing the eponymous journal, and later as head of the Programs and Personnel Office of the Institute of Informatics of ITE. She is a certified evaluator (Validator and Assessor) of the «Business Excellence» model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM Excellence Model), which is the most widely adopted Excellence model in Europe. She is also a certified Lead Auditor of the «BS 7799-2:2002, Information Security Management System» standard from the British Standard Institution (BSI). She was a representative of the Institute of Informatics-ITE in the Human Recourse Task Force (HR-TF) of the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM). She has participated in writing many successful proposals and deliverables for European ITE projects, taking on the part concerning process management, the satisfaction of the «customers» system and quality assurance. Since March 2018, she has been the Data Protection Officer (Data Protection Officer) of ITE.
