According to renowned Apple Ming-Chi Kuo, there is a possibility that the company will release 100% wireless iPhones in 2021, completely removing the Lightning.
However, only one model will no longer have the Lighting port, and this will be the most expensive one on sale.
2020 Device Predictions
The same analyst has also stated that it is very likely that Apple will release 5 new iPhone devices in 2020, 4 of which will even feature OLED.
The company plans to release two 6.7-inch iPhones, one 6.1-inch, and a smaller 5.4-inch. All of the new models will feature 5G.
According to Kuo, the fifth and final model will be the iPhone SE 2 with a LCD and will be released in the first half of 2020. An iPhone SE 2 Plus will be released in 2021, but it will feature TouchID and not FaceID for authentication.
When it comes to predictions about Apple's future moves, Kuo is quite reliable, as he draws information from the company's supply chain. So most of the news he announces is usually true.
The analyst did not mention anything about the pricing of the new devices. However, it is believed that Apple wants to offer devices for a wide range of consumers, which is why it plans to release the iPhone SE 2 and various variants of the iPhone 12.
All we can do is wait to see if the above predictions come true.
