Rescatux is a live GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian. The distribution includes a graphical wizard for rescuing corrupted GNU/Linux installations.
Apart from this, there are other rescue options available, including restoring the GRUB boot loader after a Windows installation, resetting passwords on Linux and Windows systems, and checking Linux file systems.
The latest development snapshot, Rescatux 0.72 Beta4, is based on the latest Debian 10 Buster and brings several fixes and improvements.
“The new version checks Gparted, Photorec and Testdisk before running them. The new System Info Script based on Inxi has been added. For better usability we have created a documentation page for options that were there but not explained. Finally the bootinfoscript has been upgraded to use Debian packages instead of the old custom bootinfoscript..”
