Clonezilla Live is a Live CD containing disk cloning software similar to Norton Ghost. It saves and restores only the used parts of your hard drive.
With Clonezilla, one can clone a 5 GB system to 40 computers in about 10 minutes.
The Clonezilla distribution is based on Debian, and is specifically configured for copying disks and partitions.
The distribution includes, in addition to its own specialized tools, some well-known to Linux fans, such as partimage, ntfsclone, and partclone. All of these enhance the distribution's capabilities as they help it copy a wide variety of filesystems: FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS for Windows, ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, btrfs, f2fs, and nilfs2 for Linux, and HFS+ for MacOS.
Clonezilla Live: Also copies UFS for FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD, minix for Minix, and VMFS3, VMFS5 for VMWare ESX.
The Clonezilla distribution recognizes logical volumes in Linux (LVM2) and recognizes network controller drivers, sambafs, sshfs, etc. Thus, it can also create backups on remote computers via SSH, Samba or NFS.
