Mind-reading technology: The new threat to data security?

Technology Scientists have already developed technologythat will allow us to read our thoughts and emotions . It does this by converting them into digital form. Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) allow the mind to be connected to a computer.

Many large companies, such as Facebook, want to acquire this technology.

This sounds scary. Having others understand our hidden thoughts and our fears is not the best thing. However, for now there is no need to worry.

BCIs aren't sophisticated enough to collect this detailed information. Right now, they're only able to assess some physical movements and emotional states. But scientists are constantly developing machine learning algorithms. This could lead to more accurate mind reading.

Currently, there are two ways to connect the human brain to a computer. One method is invasive while the other is not.

Non-invasive methods involve using methods such as electroencephalography to read neural signals. Non-invasive systems also transmit information to the brain using techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation.

The interventional method, on the other hand, involves direct contact between the brain and the electrodes. It is essentially an operation. This means that there are some risks, since we are talking about a surgical intervention on the brain.

So why would someone choose the invasive method? Because this method can decode the brain more effectively.

In non-invasive systems, such as EEG, the synchronized action of millions of neurons is required to provide a complete picture of the brain.

“It’s like standing outside a football stadium and trying to figure out what’s going on in the game just by listening to the voices. You can get a picture of big events, but it’s hard to get detailed information,” said one researcher.

In invasive methods, there is direct contact with the neurons. The signal they receive is sufficient to make the thought understandable.

Scientists have achieved many medical breakthroughs through such methods.

These days, invasive methods are commonly used to help people with paralysis.

Regarding technological applications, BCIs will likely follow the non-invasive method.

Non-invasive systems won't be as effective, but scientists are using sophisticated methods, such as machine learning, to more precisely control signals. In addition, more sophisticated software is being used.

Some believe that existing non-invasive technologies are just as effective as invasive ones, at least when it comes to motion control.

“We believe that if what you’re interested in is control, you can have it through non-invasive means,” said one researcher.

The ability to read thoughts without using invasive methods is very dangerous.

breaches are a common occurrence these days and are not pleasant for victims. However, gaining access to our thoughts and emotions is an even scarier scenario.
