Rheinmetall AG and Defence Construction Canada (DCC) were attacked by hackers, which resulted in problems in their systems .
Rheinmetall AG is headquartered in Germany and is one of the leading providers of military equipment and systems worldwide. It has two subsidiaries, Rheinmetall Defence and Rheinmetall Automotive. “The group’s workforce includes 23,000 employees and last year achieved sales of $6.9 billion,” a press release said.
Defence Construction Canada (DCC) provides infrastructure and environmental projects for Canada's defence requirements. It is engaged in "contracting, construction contract management and related infrastructure services".
Rheinmetall's factories in America were attacked by hackers
According to Rheinmetall AG, the IT systems of Rheinmetall Automotive in Brazil, Mexico and the U.S.were attacked by hackers on September 24, 2019, late at night.
The attacks have resulted in the disruption of production processes at factories for several days.
Rheinmetall AG said it had investigated and found that the IT infrastructure of its other plants was not affected. It added that it was doing everything it could to address the issue as quickly as possible and protect its customers.
The company strives to serve its customers without delays, however attacks can disrupt the production process for two to four weeks.
Rheinmetall AG said these attacks could cause losses of 3-4 million euros per week.

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) systems attacked by hackers
Earlier this month, hackers also attacked Defence Construction Canada (DCC) systems. The attacks caused many problems that are affecting the company to this day.
The security occurred on Wednesday, September 11, according to DCC communications director Stephanie Ryan.
Defence Construction Canada is trying to restore its systems, following an investigation into the causes and effects of the attack.
The company stated that its operations continue as normal and that customers are served without delays.
The companies have not yet reported information about the malware the hackers used to attack.
Many companies are attacked every day
Every day, many companies fall victim to attacks. Typically, hackers use ransomware or cryptominers to target companies' systems.
For example, Norsk Hydro, one of the largest aluminum producing companies, was attacked by ransomware, resulting in the interruption of production.
Altran Technologies was also attacked by the LockerGoga ransomware. The company was forced to shut down its network to protect its business and customer data
