FOSSCOMM (Free and Open Source Software Communities Meeting) is the national conference of the free and open source software communities. It is aimed primarily at programmers, students and in general anyone interested in open source, regardless of their background.
Open source communities participate, such as the Union of Greek Linux Users and Friends (HELLUG), groups of developers and project contributors such as Mozilla, Fedora, OpenSuse, KDE, etc. The content is of broad interest, from technical issues and workshops, to translations, legal issues, policy issues regarding free/open source software, etc. Participation has no registration cost.
FOSSCOMM usually attracts a few hundred participants, with the largest attendance to date being recorded at the Patras event in 2011, with approximately 450 participants. It has been held annually since 2008 and has been held in 6 different cities to date. The event is run by volunteers and is funded by sponsorships and donations.
FOSSCOMM 2018 will be held at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete, on the Vouta Campus of Heraklion. You can find photos, maps and contact details on the department's website.
