Sony has announced a new model of its e-mount mirrorless camera , the Sony α6400. The company claims that the α6400 features many of the same technologies offered by the rest of the e-mount series, packed into a very lightweight body. Sony says that this new addition has the world's fastest autofocus, at just 0.02 seconds, and introduces Sony's new "Real-time Eye AF" and "Real-time tracking."
The new α6400 also offers high-speed shooting at up to 11 frames per second with AF/AE tracking. The camera also features a new-generation BIONZ X image processing engine, which takes excellent images, 4K video, and finally has a 180-degree touchscreen. Many α6000, α6300, and α6500 owners would love a screen like that!
As Neal Manowitz, vice president of Imaging Solutions at Sony Electronics, said, “The α6400 represents another significant step in the evolution of Sony’s interchangeable lens camera lineup. By bringing so many of our latest and most advanced technologies from full-frame cameras to an all-new APS-C model, we’re giving today’s creators more options than ever to realize their vision.”
The α6400 will be available in February 2019 for a suggested retail price of US$900 / CA$1,250. It will also be offered as a kit with a 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 lens for US$1,000 / CA$1,350 or as a kit with an 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 lens for US$1,300 / CA$1,750. The camera and kits will be available at various authorized Sony dealers across North America.
