No one expected that the Japanese company Sharp would launch the most affordable 8K Micro Four Thirds mirrorless video camera!
The electronics company has already demonstrated at CES 2019 its new 8K camera, which is aimed not only at professionals but also at regular consumers! Kinotika visited Sharp's stand at the most famous event for showcasing new technological products, CES, in Las Vegas and there it noticed a new camera, known as an 8K video camera.
Essentially, it is a top-of-the-line product with a CMOS sensor and is capable of shooting in 8K at 30p, using the H.265 codec. In addition, there is in-camera stabilization, either from in-body stabilization or from an electronic system. As for its display at the event, Sharp's new camera was mounted with an Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150 lens and is expected to feature a Micro Four Thirds mount when it comes to the market. Elsewhere, customers will find a large 5.0-inch screen, which can be pulled out from the camera system, as shown in the image below.
Additional features include a single SD card slot (UHS-II), a full-size HDMI port, USB-C connectivity, a headphone jack, a microphone input, and a mini XLR audio-in port. However, Sharp indicated that these specifications may change before the camera is officially released at NAB 2019 in April. The truth is that the 8K mirrorless video camera from Sharp is quite reminiscent of the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K from Blackmagic. As for the cost, it is expected to be just under $5,000. Although it can be considered expensive, it is not only aimed at professionals but also at amateurs.
The appearance of the new camera was a particularly pleasant surprise for experts and customers of the company, because it seems to be the first 8K camera of 5,000 dollars which, as mentioned, is not only aimed at professionals. Below is a video with a brief presentation of the new product.
