The Mathesis Open Online Courses Center was founded in 2015 as a special department of the University Publications of Crete (UPC) with the sole purpose of creating and offering free of charge to students, professional scientists and the general public, online courses at the level of the best international standards.
The previous Mathesis concludes with over 44,000 students registered on the Mathesis and around 27,000 certificates of successful attendance in the 19 courses offered so far.
Mathesis courses are offered free of charge and will continue to be so. You can attend them until the end and participate in the weekly tests and the final exam.
However, in most courses you will be asked for a small fee – of the order of €15 – for the issuance of a certificate of successful attendance, provided that you are entitled to it having secured the required minimum performance of 50%.
For the unemployed, the certificate is issued free of charge. From our side, we consider this small fee as your necessary contribution to the continuation of the operation of an institution that serves public purposes without receiving a single euro – direct or indirect – of state aid.
It is based only on donor support and voluntary work. An institution of civil society that is mainly addressed to them and seeks to gain and maintain their trust. If you find Mathesis courses desirable and useful, you now have the opportunity to contribute to their continuation and expansion into even more interesting subjects.
