RTX 2070 Max-Q: Benchmark Results That Are Shocking!

The first benchmark of the Nvidia RTX 2070 Max-Q was released. Our numbers show what to expect from these new chips that will be released at CES 2019, as they will be the first graphics chips for laptops that will use GDDR6 memory combined with ray tracing technology.

2070

The notebooks that will have the RTX 2070 MAX-Q will be high-spec gaming systems that will range between those with the RTX 2060 and RTX 2080. The new card is reputed to have 2304 CUDA cores and a clock speed of 1300 MHz. The chip's VRAM will be 8 GB GDDR6!

From the benchmark released in Fantasy XV benchmark databased we can see that the new chip is as powerful as the GTX 1080 and RX VEGA 64 of the previous generations. While we know that a single benchmark is not enough to convince us that a graphics card is powerful, we remain excited about the benchmark result, because a chip with several limitations in temperatures and clockspeed performs the same (or better) than the most powerful cards of the previous generation.

The RTX 2070 Max-Q scored 3080 points in the Final Fantasy XV benchmark, surpassing the RX VEGA 64 which reached 2919 points, as well as the GTX 1080 which reached 2892. In fact, we believe that the capabilities of the 2070 will be on par with those of the Titan X.

The numbers that were released are certainly encouraging and will definitely give Nvidia an even larger share of the market, as it seems, for now, the comparison between Nvidia and AMD cards is impossible.
