YouTube will stop showing annotations on videos from 2019

videoThese annoying messages that appear when watching a video on YouTube (also known as annotations) will be removed by default in early 2019 according to Google.

YouTube removed the Annotations Editor back in 2017, along with the ability to create new annotations or edit existing ones. As of January 15, 2019, the remaining annotations will also be removed.

Uploaders will be able to use tools like cards and end screens to add links to related videos. End screens are already available in YouTube Studio beta, and cards will launch soon.

In addition, YouTube also announced that it will no longer allow uploading new playlists or movies or editing existing ones in Creator Studio. Video credits, which allow you to showcase channels that appear below the video description, will also be removed. You will no longer be able to create these types of video credits. Instead, you can include a partner's channel URL in your video description.

Additionally, the Gmail feature that auto-completes suggestions for users as they type will no longer suggest pronouns based on gender, because there is a possibility that Google's "Smart Compose" technology could incorrectly predict a person's gender and potentially offend some users.

Gmail product manager Paul Lambert said a company researcher discovered the problem in January when he typed "I have a meeting with an investor next week" and Smart Compose suggested as a possible next question: "Do you want to meet him?" instead of "her.".

Consumers have grown accustomed to autocorrect blunders on smartphones. But Google refused to take the risk, at a time when gender issues are reshaping politics and society and critics are scrutinizing artificial intelligence for potential biases like never before.
