Microsoft released a new updated version of Office for Mac for Office insiders, after the corporate previews of the next stable release that will be launched later this month.
With this new update, Office for Mac has reached version 16.18.181008 and improves performance almost for every application of the productivity suite.
Everything starts with PowerPoint, which now has motion activations. Previously the feature was available only on Windows, with the ability to be available only for Office 365 subscribers.
“You can enable a motion effect to start when you click on the shape or object that will be animated. For an audio or video clip, you can enable a motion effect at the start of the clip or during playback “, explains Microsoft adding that the new feature is available under the Animations tab.
This version also introduces Ideas for Excel, which is a new feature that is based on the power of AI to provide you with more information about your data.
“To Ideas for Excel gives you the ability to understand your data through high-level visual summaries, trends and patterns. Simply click on a cell in a data range and then click the Ideas button on the Home tab. To Ideas for Excel will analyze your data and return interesting visual elements in a task pane, “the description states.
Excel also receives improvements for the auto-complete tool, as well as better VoiceOver navigation, which technically allows you to move by pressing VO + U, also offering support for Trackpad Commander.
Word and Excel are updated with caption suggestions for images embedded in documents, to make them accessible to people with reduced vision, while Outlook now comes with improved search suggestions for recent search history.
All these improvements are currently in an early testing stage, so their public release date depends on the feedback Microsoft receives from insiders.
