Apple Store “crashed” before the launch of iPhone X successors

The Apple Store has been down, while Cupertino prepares to unveil new iPhone models at an event at the Steve Jobs Theater.

The current message that appears to all customers trying to log in to the Apple Store is “We’ll be right back. We’re updating the Apple Store.”

The Apple Store goes down every year before a major hardware reveal, allowing Apple to add new models. It is expected to return about three or four hours after the event concludes.

Apple is rumored to unveil three new iPhone models today, all designed to be successors to the iPhone X and follow the same edge-to-edge design with the notch hiding the Face ID sensor array at the top.

The three new iPhones should be called the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus/Max, and iPhone XC according to rumors and leaks, with the first two likely to come with the hardware upgrade found inside the iPhone X.

The third iPhone, the iPhone XC is supposed to be the slightly cheaper successor to the iPhone X, powered by the new A12 included in all three devices, but with slightly less RAM and a 6.1-inch LCD display instead of OLED.

Apple will also unveil the new Apple Watch Series 4, with the potential addition of a digital face combined with a UV sensor, as well as an upgraded heart rate sensor for vastly improved heart rate monitoring and designed to provide much more accurate readings.

It is also believed that they will introduce a new iPad Pro with Face ID technology this year, as well as upgraded AirPods and other similar accessories.

Cupertino will also announce the final versions of iOS 12 and watchOS 5 at today's event, with the official release date expected to be set in the coming days, likely on September 14.
