Windows 10 Antivirus blocks Kali Linux from running!

Kali Linux is the latest Linux distribution that you can download and install from the Microsoft Store as part of Windows 10, but it turns out that it's impossible to run it without disabling your antivirus.

By definition, Kali Linux is a distribution intended to help conduct penetration testing and ethical hacking projects, so it makes sense to include tools and exploits that under different circumstances are considered dangerous for a Windows 10 computer.

However, given that Kali itself is now offered directly in the Microsoft Store on Windows 10, one would expect that the default antivirus would allow it to whitelist all of its content, allowing all packages to deploy properly.

However, this is not the case, as Windows Defender, the default antivirus solution pre-installed on Windows 10, prevents Kali Linux from running after some of the hacking tools are flagged as malware and quarantined.

Obviously, there's nothing wrong with Windows Defender and it makes sense that all these utilities would be dangerous for Windows 10 computers, but on the other hand, since Microsoft allowed Kali Linux in the Microsoft Store, the antivirus solution should be considered of major importance.

At this point, installing Kali and running the included packages is only possible if Windows Defender protection is disabled.

It goes without saying that disabling Windows Defender protection could leave the system vulnerable to further vulnerabilities, so an update from Microsoft would be really helpful.

Also note that the Microsoft Store warns that installing Kali Linux could “trigger antivirus warning” and users are advised to be cautious.
