Is Xiaomi's next model a copy of the iPhone X?

Xiaomi: Removing the fingerprint sensor from the iPhone X and betting on facial recognition was a controversial decision, but as always, it was only a matter of time before Android rivals adopted the same approach.

Xiaomi, for example, is one of them as it plans to abandon Touch ID and only offer the Face ID system in its next flagship, which will be called the Mi 7.Xiaomi

Although it is just a rumor, Xiaomi is already considering the facial recognition system with an increased focus on security since it is the only authentication method for the device.

Xiaomi is not the first company to invest in facial recognition features, although it is one of the first to follow in Apple's footsteps and plan to abandon fingerprint sensors entirely.

Companies like Huawei and Vivo, for example, are exploring the idea of integrating fingerprint sensors into the display in an attempt to stick with this feature while also offering facial recognition.

On the other hand, Samsung plans to keep the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone in its next flagship, although many believe that the company should integrate Touch ID into the home screen on the upcoming Note 9 phablet.

It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi plans to become an Apple copycat. It should be noted, of course, that the company is betting on high-end hardware such as the Snapdragon 845 chip, the 5.65-inch edge-to-edge display with 18:9 aspect ratio, and high-quality cameras.
