Apple , which will be officially called the Apple Watch Series 3 and comes with a number of hardware improvements as well as the updated watchOS 4.
The new Apple Watch looks similar to existing models, which is good news for those who have already purchased a previous model as they can use the same straps.
Apple has upgraded the heart rate sensor with BPM information displayed right on the watch face. In addition, resting heart rate and recovery information will be displayed on the face.
The new generation of Apple Watch is powered by watchOS 4 which will be released on September 19 for all existing models.
The biggest improvement coming with the new generation is LTE support, which essentially makes the watch completely independent of the iPhone. This means it will be able to initiate and answer calls without a connection.
There are several hardware upgrades, including a new chip that makes the device 70 percent faster, according to Apple. Siri gets new features and can speak, which brings the device into line with the iPhone when it comes to digital assistants.
Apple has also developed its own chip for Bluetooth and wireless connectivity, the so-called W2, which is 75% faster and 50% more efficient.
The Apple Watch comes with a space-saving eSIM that allows Apple to build the device in the same size as those in the Series 2.
The Series 3 comes in a new gold aluminum finish, plus new bands as part of Nike's fitness collection. There are also new band colors, and all will be available from the Apple Store. A ceramic version in a gray finish is also being introduced in addition to the white that launched last year.
