BLU is in trouble again after security researchers discovered spyware on its devices for the second time , leading Amazon to ban all models from the site.
spyware BLU products first showed last November when researchers at Kryptowire discovered an application that collected user data and sent it to servers in China.
At that time, BLU confirmed the existence of the spyware and promised to immediately resolve it by contacting Adups to remove the application that was stealing personal data.
However, according to the latest revelations from Kryptowire, the spyware is still present on BLU products, with at least three confirmed models being sold with the spyware installed.
This time, however, BLU did not confirm the rumors. Instead, it characterized the reports as inaccurate and false. Specifically, it states that the spyware was removed from the devices after the first disclosure in late 2016 and all models are now safe.
“The data collected is for operational and basic OTA information, a process followed by every smartphone manufacturer worldwide. Nothing illegal is happening that affects the privacy and security of users,” the company said in a press release. In addition, BLU pointed out that there is no risk in using servers in China since all companies use them without this meaning that users’ privacy is violated .
Although BLU categorically denies the reports of spyware, Amazon has already blocked the products on its website as it wants its users to be completely safe.
