Microsoft released an update for the Surface Studio that allows you to wake the device simply by calling your personal assistant Cortana by name.
Essentially, the latest firmware update sent out on April 19th brings the Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Driver for Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) to version 6.0.1.8061, enabling voice wake-up.
So, after installing the latest update on a Surface Studio running the Windows 10 Creators Update, all you have to do to wake up your device is say “Hey, Cortana” and just wait for it.
What's important to know is that the feature doesn't respond to a complete shutdown, but only when the Surface Studio is in sleep mode. The good news is that while in the past "Hey, Cortana" would wake up the screen when the device was already on, it now allows you to access the desktop from sleep mode.
Don't forget that the new firmware update is sent via Windows Update, so make sure you get the new versions as soon as possible if you want to get the new feature.
You are also required to restart your device before the installation is complete, so save your work and any files that you don't want to lose before starting the update process.
For information, the Surface Studio is an all-in-one PC from Microsoft that was released last fall and, like other Surface devices, it receives firmware updates quite frequently that offer more and more impressive features to users.
