Starting with the new version of Windows 10 IoT Core, the popular development board can serve as a basis for more advanced devices that operate with voice commands through Cortana, Redmond's personal assistant, which until now has been available on computers and smartphones.
On Raspberry Pi, Cortana comes with almost the same feature set and supports commands that provide you with weather, time, traffic, dictionary, sports, and other information.
Microsoft provides complete instructions on how to configure Cortana on Windows 10 IoT Core, but some components must first be connected to the board, including microphones and speakers, so they can interact with Cortana.
For now, only English is supported but just like it has happened on computers and smartphones, there is no doubt that Microsoft will add more languages in the near future.
