These days, almost any small device that catches fire makes headlines, especially after the Samsung Note 7 fiasco which confirmed that its components are not exactly safe pieces of technology. But today we will talk about a video showing an iPhone 7 exploding.
But aside from the videos that actually show phones catching fire, there are also people spreading fake news all over the internet, for reasons we can't discuss right now. But instead, we're going to break down one of the latest clips that's making the rounds right now.
The video below claims to show an iPhone 7 Plus literally exploding in its owner's hand. If you watch closely, you can see the alleged device catching fire in a way you wouldn't normally expect, causing a huge blaze that could easily lead to more injuries.

The owner was lucky enough because the only injuries he suffered were the burns on his left hand that you can see at the beginning of the video, next to the supposedly exploding black iPhone 7.
Except the video is completely fake and with a little research, anyone can figure that out. There are three different ways to say this.
First of all, let's start with the less obvious. The video shows the man holding the phone with both hands, but judging by the photo included at the beginning of the video, only the left hand suffered the injuries.
Second, the man in the video drops the device to the ground and then examines his right hand, which is apparently the one affected by the explosion. You can see him cleaning his right palm with his left hand. At the beginning of the video, however, the burns appear to be on the left side, even though it is very obvious from the video that the left was not affected as much as the right.
And last but not least, there’s the photo of the hand that allegedly suffered the burns. Despite the fact that the video claims to show the effects caused by the explosion, the photo showing the burns dates back to 2015 and was posted to show an external charger that exploded. You can see in the photo below that it has been used by other news sites and refers to a power bank.
