What Apple and Microsoft think about touch technology

Apple, unlike Microsoft , which insists on touchscreen devices, is investing in more traditional input methods by manufacturing desktop and laptop computers that do not have this feature.

According to Phil Schiller, Apple's vice president of marketing, the company considered introducing touchscreens to desktops and laptops, but the idea was eventually scrapped because it wasn't considered user-friendly. A touchscreen on a desktop doesn't seem to be particularly useful for users who have to reach up to a 27-inch to type. A keyboard and mouse, on the other hand, are more user-friendly and help consumers be more productive.

In the past, they tried to add touchscreens to MacBooks and iMacs but always backed out at the last minute, said Phil Schiller, who is opposed to the technology. The touchscreen issue has often been a big dilemma for Apple, but they were convinced that the tactic they are following will please consumers, as it does.

Microsoft, however, has a different opinion. It offers a 28-inch with a touchscreen, Surface Dial, and an optional keyboard and mouse. It doesn't want to stick to traditional technologies, but to invent new ways to satisfy users. Which it seems to be doing with the Surface Pro, Surface Book , and Surface Studio , which all feature touchscreen technology.

It seems that the two giants are using two different device design techniques that work very successfully. So it remains to be seen which one will be preferred by most users.
