Microsoft launched a new trade-in program earlier this month to convince its users to ditch their MacBooks and buy a Surface , and now it's extended the date for some as-yet-undisclosed reason.
The trade-in program was originally supposed to end on November 7th, but it will now run until November 23rd, apparently while supplies last (so if you don't hurry, you might not have the chance to take advantage of this offer and get a Surface in exchange for your MacBook).
The plan here is to convince MacBook users to switch to Microsoft Surface by offering them significant discounts when they trade in their Apple devices. At this time, it's unknown how many buyers actually purchased new Windows 10 devices using this offer.
And Microsoft is also offering some pretty impressive price reductions if you bring in a used MacBook, and depending on the year of manufacture, model, condition, and available accessories, you can get up to $650.
"To be eligible for exchange, devices must meet certain requirements. The device must be battery-powered and not constantly plugged in to operate and be in fully functional condition with no broken or missing parts, no cracked screen, no liquid damage or tampered warranty seal, no password protection, and include the original chargers. It must also contain a hard drive," Microsoft explains.
The credit customers receive can also be used to purchase a Surface Pro 4 or a Surface Book, as both are positioned as direct competitors to the MacBook, although they provide more features, such as touch support.
The trade-in offer is only available in the US for now and there are no plans to expand it outside the borders, although plenty of people would be happy to trade in their old MacBook for a brand new Surface model!
