The HP Elite X3 survived the waterproof test!

We live in an era where the majority of smartphone manufacturers are trying to make their products waterproof, with companies like Samsung and Apple leading the way in this regard. Fortunately, the Windows Phone world is not far from achieving this, and all thanks to HP and its flagship Elite X3.

The X3 comes with an IP67 rating, which is the exact same rating that the iPhone 7 achieved earlier this year when it launched, so it boasts almost maximum protection against water and dust. An IP67 rating means that the device can remain submerged in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes (maximum) without suffering any technological damage. As it turns out, the Elite X3 doesn't disappoint.

The test conducted at the WindowsTeca show showed that dropping an HP Elite X3 into a bowl of water, which is not an extreme test for a Windows phone, helps you get a taste of how advanced the model's water resistance really is. In most cases, when we talk about a waterproof device, we don't mean being able to swim with the device, but rather that it can be protected in cases of rain or accidental damage.

What's really interesting is that the company didn't pass the test with flying colors, as it didn't manage to escape unscathed. In fact, the speakers stopped working as soon as the device was submerged in water, but everything was fixed once the inside of the phone dried out.

HP is on the right track and if it manages to fix the issue with the speakers, we will be able to officially talk about a waterproof Windows phone!
