A new revolutionary service is coming: Flattr Plus. One of the co-founders of The Pirate Bay, Peter Sunde, presented his new project: the disruptive Flattr service.
Two days ago, in a public announcement, Flattr and Adblock Plus, the company behind the world's most popular ad blocker, announced a partnership that will allow website owners to get paid even if their visitors block ads in their browsers.
The new service, called Flattr Plus, is based on the well-known Adblock Plus and adds Flattr buttons to websites where users block ads. If the user wants the site’s content, they can very easily click the Flattr button.
This process requires users to have Flattr accounts to which they can deposit a monetary amount at the beginning of each month.
The way the Flattr Plus service will work is by calculating all the websites that the user visits and has clicked the Flattr button to view the content. At the end of the month, the user's deposit will be shared among all the sites they visited. The amount of money each site receives will depend on the number of pages the user clicked.
The Flattr Plus service will launch in the coming months, and Flattr together with Adblock Plus will earn ten percent of all the money that is transacted through the service.
Thus the new Sunde service appears to be trying to offer an alternative solution instead of the model with the classic and very annoying ads that exist today. If the Flattr Plus service ultimately works, advertisers will find themselves in a very difficult position.
