The developers of the powerful, free, open-source digital painting software Krita have announced the release of the eighth version for the 2.9 series.

According to the release notes published on October 14 by the application's developers, Krita 2.9.8 mainly contains bugfixes that resolve many of the issues reported by users from the previous software version 2.9.7, but also includes various less obvious improvements.
Among the changes implemented in Krita 2.9.8, we can mention a bunch of important fixes to its Photoshop-like appearance, multiple performance improvements when adding new layers, various improvements to the import and export filters for OpenEXR, JPEG, PNG and TIFF, and more correct terminology for rotations either on the layer or on the image.
The program can run in Windows, Linux, Mac OSX environments for both X64 or X86 architectures.
