Today, in an interview at Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California, Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the company is actively working on implementing a Dislike button.
It appears that the company is changing its policy on the logic of having negative voting buttons, which they strongly supported, even receiving a lot of criticism for it.
"I think people have been asking about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say that we are working on it," Zuckerberg said.
At the moment, the button in question is in the “confirmed rumor” stage, and there are no other details about it. This means that the Dislike could also be called “Downvote”, “Thumbs Down” or something similar.
Furthermore, the new button does not appear to have a permanent presence in the space, the possible scenarios are that it will only be activated for specific "sad" posts, only at the request of the editor.
The good news is that Facebook staff has been working on it for quite some time now, which means it's ready to go after Zuckerberg felt the need to mention it to the public.
